Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about the book, the science behind it, and how it supports you.

Unlike many menopause books that are either too clinical or too vague, The New Menopause Journey is written by a doctor, Dr. Tyner Tiffany Gabrielle, and grounded in current medical science, yet delivered with warmth and zero judgment. It combines evidence-based guidance, real reader stories, and practical day-to-day tools, covering everything from early symptoms to Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) in one clear, approachable guide.

Yes. This book draws on current medical research and years of clinical experience. It explains the evidence behind common symptoms and treatment options, including HRT, in plain language, while encouraging you to make informed decisions with your own healthcare provider. It's designed to be one of the most trustworthy menopause books you can keep on your shelf.

Absolutely. Perimenopause is a major focus, which is what sets it apart from many perimenopause books on the market. It helps you recognize early signs like irregular cycles, sleep changes, mood shifts, and brain fog, often years before menopause, so you can understand what's happening and act early.

Many perimenopause books stop at listing symptoms. This guide goes further, explaining why those changes happen, what genuinely helps, and how to protect your long-term health, covering nutrition, sleep, mood, bone, heart, and brain health, plus a clear framework for the decades ahead.

It's for any woman approaching, going through, or past menopause, including women in their late 30s and 40s noticing the first signs of perimenopause. It's also a helpful resource for partners, friends, and family who want to understand and support someone through this stage.

Yes. At the heart of the book is a clear, balanced, and deeply researched look at HRT: who it's for, how it works, the latest evidence on benefits and risks, and how to have an informed conversation with your doctor.

Online searches often leave you with conflicting advice and marketing noise. Among menopause books and perimenopause books, this one offers a single, structured, doctor-written path, from first symptoms to postmenopause, so you're not piecing together your health from scattered sources.

You'll find practical tools and simple daily rituals for managing symptoms, improving sleep, supporting your mood, and protecting your long-term health. The goal is to help you feel more like yourself, every single day.

As a man, I picked up The New Menopause Journey to better understand what the women in my life are experiencing and I’m truly grateful I did. Dr. Tyner Tiffany Gabrielle presents menopause with clarity, confidence, and science-based insight that made me realize just how misunderstood this phase of life often is. Her clear explanations of hormones, sleep, mood, and metabolism made complex topics easy to understand, even without a medical background. I now have a far deeper appreciation for the physical and emotional changes women go through, and I feel much better prepared to respond with empathy and support. This isn’t just a book for women, it’s a relationship-strengthening resource for anyone who wants to understand, connect, and care more thoughtfully.

This is very easy to read , good font size, and it’s loaded with great content and provides answers to questions that you may have as you approach menopause, or if you are post menopause like me and still need answers.. This book has loads of research and is worth reading, most doctors don’t even know a lot that’s in this book , because they don’t really understand menopause, and don’t get taught about menopause, like they should. A person typing what they may or may not know. This book has solid information from a reliable source. 5/5 stars from me.

Most everyone thinks they can look information up on the internet these days, and you can, but here’s the problem: you don’t know if the source is reliable. This book is written by doctor, one with credentials, and she tells it like it is. It is written in a “read from cover-to-cover fashion, so you can sit down and read it chapter by chapter. It’s also broken down into menopause issues, so you can look up what you need to know right here and now. Dr. Gabrielle writes in real life language, not “doctor talk”, so everyone can understand. She also gives explanations so the reader can understand the how and why of menopause, its symptoms, and its treatments. I am currently in menopause and I’m struggling! The hot flashes, the mood swings, the weight gain, the sleeplessness, etc… and though I know a lot from my mom, other women in my life, and my doctor, they can’t help at 3 a.m. when I can’t sleep and want some reliable answers to what I’m feeling. “Reliable” being the key word.

The book breaks down perimenopause and menopause in a clear, approachable way, blending science with real life understanding so it never feels overwhelming or clinical. It does a great job of normalizing symptoms while offering practical, actionable ways to manage them. What stands out most is how empowering it feels. From symptom relief and lifestyle strategies to advocating for yourself in healthcare settings, it encourages women to take an active role in their well-being. It reads like a trusted companion rather than a medical manual, making it a valuable resource for anyone looking to move through menopause with more confidence, clarity, and compassion.

I went through menopause 20 years ago and now my daughter is having hot flashes, brain fog, etc. I ordered this book for her (and read through some of it mysel). I wish I'd had this book 20 years ago. This book has great medical information - yet it is "reader-friendly" and easy to read and understand. My favorite chapter was "What you really need to know about hormone therapy" followed by "How Daily Choices Shape Your Menopause Journey". Appendix B has a guide for assessing the symptoms you are experiencing. While It may sound strange, I appreciated the fact that the index is in the front of the book because it makes it so easy to find it. Couples could read this together to help partners understand what their spouse is going through.

As a forty-some-year-old who has been feeling different in my body lately, I found this book so helpful! The author writes as both a woman and a doctor in an equally accessible/relatable and informative style. I thought it might be the type of book I reference as I’m dealing with specific symptoms (and much of it can be used that way), but as I started reading this from the beginning, I was immediately drawn in and compelled to keep reading. Having almost no understanding of menopause except for what I recall my mom dealing with, I learned so much, starting with the foundation of how perimenopause, menopause, and postmenopause are defined and understood, and some of the history of how the medical system has dealt with (and neglected) menopausal women at various stages of the transition. She also goes into the science of what’s happening in our bodies, and how to speak up for the care we deserve (some of which, many doctors may not be aware of). It's also a very practical book as far as what to expect and what options are available. One of the primary focuses is on menopausal hormone therapy and the benefits of some of the different types of hormone therapies available, with a good amount of practical detail of things to consider. It also discusses nutrition (and supplementation), movement, sleep, and tips for dealing with all kinds of symptoms from body odor, thinning hair, unwanted hair growth, and hot flashes, to brain fog and other mental and emotional challenges, lots of physical health symptoms and potential changes to pre-existing conditions, sexual changes, and so much more. The section in Part Three covering various symptoms and experiences is easy to quickly reference by topic. I’m sure I will be referencing this frequently over the next several years!

The week before I ordered this book, my friends and I were out to lunch when the discussion turned to menopause. The biggest complaint wasn’t the physical symptoms, but rather the fact that so much of the information available is archaic at best. This book truly does change that! Incredibly comprehensive and straightforward, “The New Menopause Journey” goes a long way towards filling the gap in both knowledge and care. One can read it cover to cover or use the index to target specific topics. Either way, the information is straightforward and while some of the subject matter is complex, the author never talks down to her audience and makes even medical jargon more understandable.

This book is very informative and well written. It does have some proofreading errors and print defects which is unfortunate. The cover feels 1960's despite the information being up to date with current health trends. The substance of the book is well organized and written in such a way that the writer shares information while making the reader comfortable regardless of how they choose to use it. It speaks to both my intellect and emotions, making me feel respected and loved while providing important information not easily accessed otherwise. It is definitely worth reading for any woman and will help her better understand her body. The meat of the book earns it five stars, but if I were rating the actual printed product it may only get three because of misprints and paper defects.

This is a really terrific book and resource for understanding menopause and all that goes with it! There are 3 parts to it. The first explains how menopause medicine came to be and the complexities in menopausal health. It explains how we are learning more about our bodies going through menopause and that it is something women no longer have to suffer in silence with. The second part explains the 3 stages of menopause (peri, meno, and post-menopause) and what each stage brings to the table. It also addresses hormone replacement therapy and tips on getting ready for your doctor appt to address any menopause issues you are having. The third part gives you a manual that is a symptom reference guide in alphabetical order to look up symptoms. It explains WHY each symptom occurs and strategies on how to handle them. There is also an index in the beginning of the book to easily look up specific symptoms/issues/concerns, so you can easily find what the information you are looking for. At the end of the book there is a symptom self-assessment quiz to take that can be helpful to bring to a doctor appt. There is also a place for notes and journaling as well. The book is well written and easy to understand and read. It has been a great tool and resource for me as I navigate through post-menopause myself. It has also been an uplifting source for me as she shares many stories throughout of other women and their journeys, and it makes me feel better to know that I am not alone in this and other women have gone through the same feelings and situations I have been. I am grateful for this book and I feel that it is something beneficial to every woman going through this very transitional time in their life.

This guide is great for women and their loved ones to assist them in navigating through the many facets of a woman's body moving past her child bearing years. As a medical professional, I learned very little about menopause in my schooling and now as a woman going through late stage peri I realize how much I wish I had known. This book is full of those answers that I had struggled to find when I started this process.
The information is easy to understand and it will help you better communicate your needs to your Healthcare provider. I, personally, would have loved to see a collaboration with an alternative practitioner or two who could have illuminated the very effective, non-alopathic solutions to the same degree that the alopathic ones were covered. I feel it would have allowed for a better informed personal choice for women reading this lovely book. I appreciate the effort that went into writing this guide as I am certain it will help a lot of women talk to their doctors.

My mom heartbreakingly passed away when I was in my mid thirty's. I unfortunately did not get a chance to talk with her about menopause and her experience with it. This book helped answer some of my questions and helped ease some of my anxiety related to it as well. I really liked the way the book is structured. It makes it easy to flip to different sections as new questions come up during the menopause journey. I seem to find myself with new questions about menopause pretty often and it helps to have a resource handy. This would make a great gift for someone in this stage of life. It did not answer all my questions but it did give some much needed insight.

I'm approaching perimenopause and have been seeing a lot of user content on social media about it lately, but wanted a scientifically backed source of information about the next phase of my life. This book not only provides a lot of information, but a structured way to think about the journey. There is a lot of context, how to talk to doctors, what you can do on your own to help, and other resources to seek out.
The book itself is typical paperback quality (thin pages) and the printing is good/dark.

I was easily drawn in by the content of this book. The
author provides excellent information regarding perimenopause, menopause, and
post menopause, and the information is presented in an easy-to-read and
understand format. I also like that she has an index at the front of the book
in case you are interested in a specific topic. I thought some of the pages had
blotches on them, but then I realized that they were clouds like on the cover
of the book. I included a few examples. For the most part, the book flowed
really well and had very useful information. There were, however, some odd
interjections of information. See the page I included with the circled
information. Good information, but it had odd placement. The editing, however,
leaves a lot to be desired. I included some examples - the same text repeated,
lack of indentation, reference to a website that is not active. The table of
contents does not match the actual contents. This is because they listed the
Index and Letter to the Reader as chapters, so when they numbered the actual
chapters, they’re all off by 2. See the picture of the example for what is
supposed to be chapter 1. Nothing big, but overall it points to poor editing.
If you can get past the poor editing, this book provides a lot of valuable
information for women informing them of what they might expect leading up to
and post menopause. I found it to be incredibly helpful.

This is a great book for anyone looking to gain a solid
foundational understanding of menopause and the history of some of the related
studies, findings, statistics and care options. Though it contains a lot of
information and is a thick book, it is very clearly written so I found it easy
to understand, even with subject matter and terms I was not familiar with.
Everything is explained plainly. It left me feeling much more informed and
better able to discuss the topic with my healthcare providers. It can be read,
cover-to-cover, but because the chapters are so well organized and labeled, it
doesn't have to be. It can be used as a reference and resource guide to just
look up specific topics. It is the kind of book that is easy to scan through,
pausing where it is relevant and then going back later to the other sections,
without losing comprehension. I initially started by flipping through it and
found the topics that interested me and related to my personal situation.
Because all of the sections are structured the same way, it was super easy to
dive deep into a particular topic very quickly and find what I was looking for.
However, I found that the information was so interesting, I really did want to
read all of it and went back to the beginning to start over again so I didn't
miss anything that might spark recogniztion for my situation.Regarding the
content, I recognized myself and my personal situation in so many of the pages
and descriptions in ways I hadn't even been aware of. There were so many
"a-ha" moments, that really gave a voice and words to my own
experiences I had not been able to adequately describe before that I could now
share with my medical care team in a way that they might better understand. I
was left feeling much more knowledgeable andhopeful about better communication
and more productive conversations with my doctors to best determine what would
be the right path for me. I know they cannot help me if I am not able to
effectively express what's happening in ways they understand, and I felt that
the information shared helped give me a way to say "this, specifically, is
what is going on with me - is this something that could be related and
something we need to consider?"There is also a very rich list of
references in the appendix that provides a great starting point for additional
research, if you want to read the original source materials directly. I found
this book to be an excellent starting point resource to start deeper
explorations. I would highly recommend this to anyone - men or women - seeking
to better understand this very complex topic.

Sometimes a book comes along that completely changes your
life! This is one of those books. The New Menopause Journey by Dr. Tyner Tiffany
Gabrielle, hooked me as soon as I read the “letter to the reader” at the
beginning. In describing her own struggle in perimenopause and menopause, I
felt validation, as my struggle has been similar. Perhaps the most frustrating
aspect has been doctors that simply would not listen and who offered zero
recommendations to manage the symptoms I was experiencing. I felt abandoned by
modern healthcare. This book is well written, easy to understand and organized
in a way that makes it easy to find information. There are essentially four
parts. Part one deals with the history of perimenopause and menopause treatment
and addresses the overall lack of understanding that has existed for quite some
time. Part two dives into what is happening inside the body during this time,
hormone therapy, and how to prepare to address these issues with your doctor.
Part three gets into the nitty-gritty of what we can do to support our bodies
during this time. The reader can even look up specific symptoms she may be
dealing with such as hair loss or acne or brain fog. It’s a long list! Specific
guidance is provided for each of those symptoms, which I found incredibly
helpful. Part four has all of the care resources that one might need. This
includes the latest research on hormone therapy and a menopause symptom
self-assessment guide. There is even a symptom tracker and wellness journal.I
was so impressed with this book that I actually shared it with my provider, who
was not familiar with it. I’ve begun implementing multiple recommendations from
this book, and I’m happy to report they are helping! It also gave me confidence
to bring up specific treatments with my healthcare provider. To Dr. Gabrielle,
thank you for writing this book. For far too long women have been made to feel
like it is in our heads and that nothing is wrong and that nothing can be done
to support our bodies during this incredibly challenging time. We now know that
is not true. It is doctors like you that are changing the conversation
surrounding perimenopause and menopause. You will truly never know the impact
of this book you have written. I promise you that women will read it, and they
will tell their friends and they will tell their doctors. And one day, when our
daughters enter this stage of life, we will know how to support them. From the
bottom of my heart…thank you!!!

The New Menopause Journey by Dr. Tyner Tiffany Gabrielle
truly is a helpful book for those in perimenopause. The author shares her own

kind of doctor the author is. However, she does seem to be knowledgeable. I

New Menopause Journey would be especially helpful for women in

dementia because the brain fog was getting so bad. After several appointments
and a lot of frustration, I was the one who finally figured out what was
actually going on.The symptoms really do sneak up on you. One day you’re fine,
and the next you feel like you’re forgetting words, losing your train of
thought, and generally falling apart for no obvious reason. It can genuinely
make you feel like you’re completely losing it. Besides the depression and
anxiety it made my ADHD 1000% worse.Reading this helped connect a lot of dots
for me. It explains what’s happening in a way that makes you feel informed
instead of dismissed, which is something a lot of us don’t get from doctors
right away.I’d recommend it for anyone going through this stage of life, but
also as something to hand to friends who might be starting the process and
wondering what the heck is happening to them. It’s also a great book to give to
a partner so they can understand that you’re not suddenly becoming a completely
different person. You’re just dealing with hormones… not harboring a small demon
inside of you.

This book is a great reference guide for women going through
the change. Whether you're just starting, already in it, or want to prepare for
it, this book is a great start. 90% of what I've read in here, I actually knew
because of my own intense research I did for years. But, this is great because
I now have everything in one spot. Its like a reference guide for me. I had to
do my own research because for whatever reason, most doctors are clueless when
it comes to this subject. I wish I would have found this book before I spent so
many years looking for answers, it would have saved me a lot of time. But I'm
glad I found it now!

This is definitely an updated guide to menopause, whatever phase you are in. It includes simple to understand, yet professional (medical) explanations of what menopause is all about -- what's happening medically, how it may (and probably will) affect you, and what to do for symptom relief, as well as appropriate medical treatment plans.
If you are interested in women's health, including your own, the information in this book can be a life saver -- it even covers how menopause can affect other parts of your being, including diabetes, weight gain, heart issues, and the risk of other life-threatening disorders that often accompany menopause, but you were never made aware that they were affected by menopause!
I've included some snapshots of pages in the book to illustrate the completeness of the information she includes. Right on the cover, as her subtitle, she shows that she will help you to learn ("clarity"), answer your questions specifically (a huge index, six pages long!, of topics right in the front of the book) to give you "confidence" that your understanding is accurate, and "care" instructions and guides of what to discuss with your doctor and what to do (or don't do) on your own.
My wife (a retired nurse) learned so much from this book that she immediately went back and bought 4 more copies -- for friends, sister-in-law, and even her GP doctor! He (her doctor) even says that there are parts of this that he was never taught, but he can see how it fits.
I will also be reading this book, from cover to cover, to learn how to help my wife with her symptoms and issues!
